‘Drawing a Path’ developed during a studio term with Blacktown Art Centre Studios undertaken with Warren Armstrong from November 2014 –January 2015.
The residency focused on exploring the local lived spaces of the city, mainly on foot and making recordings of the locatioal sounds heard. Excerpts from these field-recordings or ‘audio memories’ as I like to call them, were sewn into a found tablecloth ‘The Last Supper Cloth’ using conductive thread and accessed by an audience’s touch.
Locations included: Prospect Reservoir; Main Street Shops; Public Pool; Crossing Main Street; & The Workers Club.
The installation, “Drawing a Path”, was developed live to site drawn using found objects and plastic discards, string, pins and video tape, collected on during the six week residency.
